Brewers of Indiana Guild and the State Fair

"They who drink beer will think beer."-Washington Irving

To help educate the masses and for the sure fun and benefits of it, I volunteered to run the Brewers of Indiana Guild's booth last Saturday morning and last Wednesday night.  Not only was I educating others, but by playing a trivia game, I educated myself more on general knowledge of Indiana Breweries. A few of the questions were posted on Indiana Beer's Facebook earlier this week.

Working it for Winterfest

Unlike roaming free with my fellow reporters, I decided to join  Hoosier Beer Geeks's volunteer squad for Winterfest.  I was at the fairgrounds at 11am, about 4 hours before the VIP were allowed in, and worked til about 9:30pm, which was after a massive cleanup!!

Volunteering was an interesting experience.

Winterfest! -- prequel

It's in three days -- The Brewers of Indiana Winterfest at the State Fair.  Regulars of the B.I.G's festivals usually are used to having a lineup of breweries and brews available, unfortunately, this year there seems to be a delay in finding out information about Winterfest - HOWEVER..

We do have at least one line up from Indiana's Champion Cup Brewery and Brew Bracket II:Stout Winner --

The Bier Brewery

Will be at Winterfest with the following:

Beer Culture shown to be alive and well at Brewers of Indiana Guild Winterfest 2011

Beer appreciation is thrivnig in Indiana as shown with participation in Winterfest, 2011. By one count 26 Indiana Breweries were well represented at Winterfest at the Indiana State Fair Grounds on Saturday, Jan. 29, and nearly 20 out-of-state breweries also brought fabulous beers. It is a testament to Indiana beer appreciators that this was not 'drink and lose it' event, but there was serious appreciation of some of the nation's finest brews. One police officer on the scene mentioned that the crowds last year and this year were very orderly.
